Both of these attributes are spot on, but we think it is the blade steel: CPM 154. Lately, we have been getting a lot of questions on this blade, so we decided to break down why this off-the-radar steel is so unique.

- Crucible Industries is a legendary American steel manufacturer with over a century of experience. They hold numerous patents on their products and methods - as far back as 1905.
- The CPM stands for “Crucible Particle Metallurgy”, which is is a method of producing higher alloyed grades of superior quality than could be accomplished through conventional steelmaking.
- Crucible took 154CM and improved it with their Crucible Particle Metallurgy (CPM) process to make CPM 154.
- It has much finer grain than the original 154CM, which results in improved toughness and edge retention.
- It looks good and is easy to sharpen.
- Because it has Chromium and Molybdenum in it, you can get a really nice polished finish (which is exactly what we did on the Milspec model).
